Nominations For The 2010 Pago Pago Stakes

March 23rd, 2010

This Saturday Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens Racecourse will be holding one of the tracks most important days of the year, the Rosehill Guineas Day, and the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) will certainly be a feature.

As one of nine top quality races to take place on Saturday, headlined by the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the 2010 Pago Pago Stakes has 16 colts and geldings nominated to compete for the $150,000 prize purse.

Coming into the race on good form is the Gerald Ryan-trained Hinchinbrook.

Coming into the race on good form is the Gerald Ryan-trained Hinchinbrook. The colt won the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at the Royal Randwick Racecourse earlier in the carnival, where he beat fellow nominee for the Pago Pago Stakes Brightexpectations.

Carved In Stone has also had a strong run recently. Trained by Tim Martin, the gelding finished third in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) last weekend, and has proved himself in his second race.

With one win from one race, Master Harry could be a contender for the 2010 Pago Pago Stakes. The colt won the Listed Streets Ice Cream Stakes (1000m) in Melbourne earlier in March.

Also taking place at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Saturday will be the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) and the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m).
