Pago Pago Stakes

The Rosehill Guineas Raceday kicks off at Sydney’s Rosehill Garden’s Racecourse just after midday this Saturday, and will once again provide some fantastic racing.

The fourth race of the day, taking place at 2pm will be the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m), and will see 12 colts and geldings compete for the $150,000 prize purse.

Drawing the inside barrier for the start is Gold Arena. Trained by Rick Worthington, the gelding has only run out once this year, finishing sixth in the Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).

Starting out wide will be the Peter Snowden-trained Blackball. Finishing fifth in the Skyline Stakes (1200m) the colt has not had any impressive races to his name recently.

Debuting in the Pago Pago Stakes will be the colt Unflinchingresolve. Having performed well in a couple of trials earlier this year, the John Thompson-trained starter may well be a horse to watch.

Late entry into the Pago Pago stakes is Skorost who will start from the third barrier. The colt finished 10^th in his first race at the Todman Stakes (1200m) and will be looking for an improvement in his second career start.

The Pago Pago Stakes will be the last opportunity the colts and geldings have to get into the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), which takes place on the 3^rd of April at the Rosehill Garden’s Racecourse.

Also taking place on Saturday at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse will be the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) and the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m).
