March 12th, 2015

A less-than capacity field of nine runners has been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens, offering punters several key chances to place a winning bet and exceptional value for money.

Paceman was disappointing when beating just one runner home in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) first-up, but remains outright favourite for success in 2015 Pago Pago Stakes betting markets at a quote of $3.30 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Debuting with an exceptional win in the Appin Plate (1100m) partway through November, Paceman received notable attention in betting markets prior to the Silver Slipper, and while appearing to be in position to strike rounding onto the final straight, was the first runner beaten home.

Charged with overcoming the outside barrier, co-trainer Peter Snowden is confident the addition of Blue Diamond Stakes-winning jockey Damian Browne will see a return to competitive form for Paceman on Saturday.

Inner Circle is yet to experience much more than a sprinkling of bets for success in the 2015 Pago Pago Stakes, but remains outright second-favourite to win the Group 2 at a quote of $3.50.

One of the many talented two-year-olds currently in work for John O’Shea, Inner Circle charged home to win the Mossman @ Vinery Plate (1100m) on debut; hitting the line two lengths in the clear of closest rival Edge Away.

Allocated the ideal barrier 2, Inner Circle has been confirmed to be partnered by James McDonald in the Pago Pago Stakes.

Raphael’s Cat is also yet to taste anything but success in his short racing career, and as a result remains sole occupant of the third line of Pago Pago Stakes betting at generous $6 odds.

Unlucky to be checked early during the running of the TAB Place Multi Plate (1100m), Raphael’s Cat was forced to settle towards the rear of the field of ten, but displayed an exceptional turn of foot to hit the line half a length ahead of Navua Miss.

Confirmed to target the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Day 1 of The Championships, trainer Gai Waterhouse is confident the Redoute’s Choice colt is the one to beat in the Pago Pago Stakes.
